We will all face difficult times in our lives. The type of difficulty will vary but we will certainly be faced with the challenge of hardship of one kind or another. Discouragement is like a nagging fly that just keeps landing on your nose or flying in your face. It needs to be smacked with a fly swatter and put to an end to keep it from ruining your view of life.
Several years ago when I was driving to an event in Southern Nebraska I had to leave very early in the morning. It was a blessed day with a beautiful sunrise over the stark Nebraska landscape. The fly that was bothering me was unemployment and the fear of being without the daily necessities we all require. The song, “Like a Priceless Pearl” was conceived out of that irritation. The realization that my wealth came from knowing Jesus and the power of His presence in my life. ”I have found the greatest treasure, for his love is finer than gold, I have found life without measure, for his mercies are like diamonds and fine gold.” Smack!! The fly was gone.
If you are discouraged today, listen to “Like a Priceless Pearl” and know that despite your hardship, you are beloved of God and blessed with the abundance of His mercies and love.
